ABC airs a good number of Saturday night and Sunday afternoon NBA games starting in mid-January of the regular season, as well as some first and second round NBA Playoffs games. They are also the exclusive home for the NBA Finals.
Given that ABC is an over-the-air TV channel, a local station, you can actually get ABC for free with a digital antenna hooked up to your television, you just have to live close enough to receive the signal. Otherwise our table in this guide provides every single cable provider and plan available that carries this network.
ABC airs NBA games under two brands during the regular season - NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC and NBA Sunday Showcase on ABC - the former features up to a dozen regular season games, to begin in mid-January. And the latter about half as many games any given reason, to begin late-January/early-February.
Since ABC is a sister station to ESPN you can watch all live streams from the ESPN portals - WatchESPN website (works on very browser) or the ESPN app (works on Android/Apple phones/tablets and a host of popular streaming devices/sticks/gaming consoles).
*Flex Scheduling of NBA on ABC Games
Along with all other networks airing NBA games, ABC has the ability to flex schedule; they can bump games on the docket for more interesting games at any time. Now, they have to give us viewers at least two weeks heads up, and it's somewhat rare as schedules are made well in advance and are hard to change for a variety of reasons (time zones, broadcaster commitments, etc). But it does happen. Our NBA on ABC is always current, make sure to check within two weeks of any broadcast in case a game gets bumped. Also the last week of the regular season they only are required to give us a one week notice. This is so they can present games with the most playoff implications in prime time before the postseason begins.
Christmas Day Games on ABC
NBA on ABC broadcasts typically begins every season on Christmas Day, with a doubleheader (back-to-back games). They partner with sister station ESPN to bring viewers five NBA games on Christmas Day, all airing at staggered times so you can watch all games back to back, all the holiday long.
