ESPN, SEC Network and CBS broadcast all SEC basketball home games. And the network list gets bigger when it comes to SEC away games, as that depends entirely on who they play - TV coverage is decided by media partnerships with the home team.
SEC Network & SEC+
The SEC Network is a 24-hour cable TV channel dedicated to all things SEC sports related. And SEC+ is an additional streaming-only channel meant to compliment the main network, to provide even more exclusive live game coverage and content. If you have SEC Network you immediately gain access to SEC+.
The SEC Network began in 2014 and is owned and operated by ESPN, which is bundled into the WatchESPN site and ESPN app for live online and mobile streaming. You'll need to login with your cable credentials to gain access to either stream.
WatchESPN works on any browser and the ESPN app is compatible with all Android and iOS smart phones and tablets, Chromecast, Roku players, Samsung Smart TVs, smart TVs with androidtv, Playstation and Xbox gaming consoles, Amazon Fire devices and even the Oculus.
Both networks broadcast many SEC games live with pre and post-game news and highlights. In addition, both networks show other SEC sports like football, baseball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics and more. All coverage features the teams that currently belong to the SEC.
SEC Network and SEC+ combined promise to carry at least 100 Division 1 men's basketball games every year featuring an SEC team. Of those a handful will air on the SEC Network Alternate channel.
SEC Network Alternate is an overflow TV channel for the SEC Network; any basketball games the TV network wants to air but can't fit into the schedule for the main SEC Network flows over to this alternate station. It's not always live and active; it's idle a lot of time and only has content in case of schedule conflicts, games running long, etc. Only some cable providers include this overflow channel but you can always stream it's content via WatchESPN, the ESPN app or the SEC Network's website.
SEC Games on ESPN
ESPN and it's family of TV channels (ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, ESPNews and ABC) broadcast a vast majority of all college basketball games that air on TV. They have broadcasting rights to almost every conference, including the SEC.
If a SEC game isn't airing exclusively on SEC Network or SEC+, chances are good it'll be on one of the ESPN-owned channels. You can live stream the game no matter which ESPN channel it airs on from the same WatchESPN website or ESPN app.
All streams require you to login with your cable credentials, whether that's from traditional cable, satellite TV or a cord-cutting provider like YouTube TV or Sling. Luckily ESPN comes standard with most every basic cable TV package, as does ESPN2 and in most cases ESPN3, ESPNU and ESPNews.
ABC is another sister station of ESPN and the only non-cable channel of the bunch to air a few SEC games. ABC can be watched live for free with a digital antenna hooked up to your TV, or it comes standard in every cable provider's local TV channel lineup.
Use this table to access the WatchESPN live stream, the ESPN app and as a way to find all cable providers and plans that carry each ESPN channel (especially if you're curious if your current provider and plan includes all of these channels or not).
CBS Airing SEC Basketball
CBS Sports airs some SEC games throughout the regular season on either their main CBS channel or on their CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) cable channel.
You can live stream any CBS Sports SEC game from CBSSports.com completely for free. Or login with cable credentials on the CBS Live TV or CBS Sports Network website. The CBS Sports app works on any iOS or Android mobile phone or tablet, Apple TV, Roku and Fire TV devices.
CBS All Access also provides all live streams for SEC games; this is a standalone streaming service that gives you access to some live events on CBS channels as well as a lot of on-demand CBS content. It's an additional monthly charge if you don't already have a cable plan that includes CBS. If you do just login with your cable info. CBS All Access comes with a free trial and uses the same CBS Sports app.
